Continuing Education: HazMat Ops

Today, members from UFA were at the Montgomery County Fire Academy completing final certification for Hazardous Material Operations. Members completed practical skills and a written test demonstrating competency in defensive operations for hazardous material mitigation. Seven UFA personnel are now certified to the new national standard of NFPA 1472. A person certified at the Hazardous Material Operations level will have demonstrated competency in the necessary knowledge and skills, to respond to hazardous materials/weapons of mass destruction incidents for the purpose of protecting persons, property, and the environment from the effects of the materials.
