Firefighters respond to two dwelling fires

pBells rang late this afternoon at 1640 hours for a report of a chimney fire on the 100 block of Summit Lane in Bala Cynwyd. Firefighters on Pipeline 28 made a quick response arriving on scene to a two story home with a moderate amount of smoke showing from the front door of the residence. Firefighters quickly located the out of control fire conveniently in the fireplace of the home. Flames were extinguished the flue opened and the smoke filled house vented.ppTotal time in service 32 minutesppUnits on scene Pipeline 28 Tower 28 Engine 26 Ladder 26ppAfter a short rest in the firehouse firefighters were again alerted to a dwelling fire now on the 300 block of Cherry Bend in Merion. Pipeline 28 arrived on scene only moments from dispatch and found a fire in a bedroom of the home. Firefighters used pressurized water cans to extinguish the flames and then checked for possible extension into other areas of the home.
